DISC is a model of human behavior that helps people understand “why they do what they do.” The dimensions of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance make up the model and interact with other factors to describe human behavior.

Application

Upon successful completion of the training, you may teach the DISC model in your organization or use it in other applications outside of your business. You will need to purchase the appropriate assessment tool(s) for each of your participants. You may also develop training programs around the DISC model, or purchase programs that incorporate DISC.

DISC Training Objectives

  • Participants will learn how to correctly administer, score, and apply the DISC Profile in their own workshops using supporting materials.
  • Discover proven methods to enhance personal and organizational results.
  • How to identify individual strengths, abilities, areas for improvement emotional intelligence, and know which jobs people are best suited.
  • Predict a job applicant's behavior style before hiring or promoting them.
  • Understand the temperament and ability of individual employees and managers.
  • Understand the eight dimensions of normal behavior (DISC).
  • Give performance feedback to people in a style they can understand and accept for improving performance and accelerating professional development.
  • Understand the critical difference between Myers-Briggs, and other behavior based assessments such as executive, team, customer service, and sales.
  • Learn to integrate the DISC tools and workshops into training and coaching applications.
  • Learn how to design and deliver workshops.

Session 1: What is DISC?

The purpose of Session 1 is to gain a thorough understanding of the DISC model of human behavior.

  • Identify goals and objectives

  • Select the appropriate DISC tools for your learning application
  • In-depth understanding of D, I, S, and C  (Chapter 4)

Session 2:  Interpreting and Debriefing DISC

The purpose of this session is to gain a deeper understanding and build confidence in your ability to deliver DISC workshops. You will also broaden your knowledge of various DISC tools and their applications.

  • Interpret the DISC Graphs
  • Position the instrument and explain the scoring instructions
  • Demonstrate your understanding of DISC and explain the DISC Graph
  • Recognize behaviors of others: effective communication strategies
  • Energy line
  • Behavioral Hierarchy
  • Unusual graphs
  • Practice reading graphs

Session 3:  Applying DISC

  • Debrief two individuals
  • Learn how to run your own workshop
  • Review PowerPoint slides
  • Discover what activities and materials to use

Session 4:  Understanding Workplace Motivators

  • Review the six motivators
  • Understand how Workplace Motivators relate to DISC
  • Learn how to use the IDS Account
  • Final review and test

Pre-Work Assignment

a) You will receive an online Insights to Success Manager-Staff report prior to the training session. You will respond online, print out your personalized report, and have it available during the training session.

 

b) You will also receive an access code for the Personal Skills, Attitudes and Values Report prior to the training session.

Training Process

The training process includes four, one-on-one tele-training classes with Greg Smith. The classes are scheduled once or twice a week.
